Jana returns to her hometown to help her alcoholic twin. She meets a man accused of killing Maria, her brother's lost love. Investigating Maria's death, Jana confronts her own repressed past.
When Jana gets off the bus in Smalånger, she finds herself in the middle of a snowstorm. John shows up and offers her shelter until the storm subsides. An instant attraction arises, but Jana gets the feeling that they have met before.
